Blogger Spotlight: Lisa’s Gluten Free Advice & Healthy Living
What leads you to blog about gluten free living?
A couple of years ago I was having allot of problems and did not know why. I was finally able to go to a nature path. She did a food sensitivity best on me and found out I am gluten intolerant. The GI Doctor tested me for celiac disease and it came back negative. I feel so much better when I stay off the gluten. I had already had a personal blog. Then in November 2009 I went to visit my sister. I met her friend who has a website about Hawaii travel. She told me how well she does and I was hooked. When I got back home in Dec. I started my blog about being gluten intolerant, it is something that I know about. I love blogging now. I keep getting e-mails from everyone telling me how much they appreciate my blog. It is a great feeling to help people.
Are you active in other ways in the gluten free, celiac community?
Yes I am. A couple of months after I started my blog a friend of mine started asking me questions about being gluten intolerant. Come to find out we had both gone to the same nature path. She had asked me if I knew of any support groups. The only support I had at that time was from the nature path. So I googled Gluten-Free Support Groups and the first one that showed up was "Gluten Intolerance Group". I looked up my
local support group and I started getting involved in the group. I have helped put together a blog for GIG of SW Washington. I help keep the blog updated, I print up business cards for the blog and run it over to Ligonberries Market (our own little gluten-free store over here). I am also on the group's list as one of the mentors. Just recently I was asked to help get donations/door prizes for our GIG group's annual fund raiser going on next month at Outback Steakhouse. So I guess you could say I help spread the spread awareness about gluten intolerance and celiac disease. I have been making a group on social networks such as this one about Eating Healthy and Gluten-Free. I love to help people whenever I can.
What is your favorite gluten free recipe/meal?
Oh I would have to say Gluten-Free Hawaiian Pizza. I wrote a short review for GIG of SW Washington of that Pizza I made. It was so good. But aside from that I would say that I love baked chicken with veggies or a good pot roast with veggies. I have also made up my very own gluten-free brownie recipe, which I might say is very yummy.
Why should a Celiac or gluten free man or woman visit your blog?
Lisa's Gluten-Free Advice and Healthy Living. http://www.lisasglutenfree.com My blog is about eating healthy and gluten-free. I have lots of tips, recipes and resources. I also write about healthy Living. I occasionally will do a review and giveaway. And I write about my own experience in the hope that it will help someone else. I don't have all the answers but I have a lot of resource links for the experts. One
of the things I strive to do is find good viable links that will help people just like me to find the answers they need.
